Founded in 1962, SEYI Machinery Industry Co., Ltd. has been pursuing excellence in the past 50 years. With production bases in Taiwan and China, and servicing network all over Europe, North America, Mexico and Thailand, SEYI is a major machinery manufacturer in Taiwan known for world-class production on hydraulic press.

National Central University's Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1977, with 50 faculty and staff members, and about 500 graduate students pursuing after PhD and Master's Degrees. The department is committed to education and research centered on mechanical engineering, with proactive integration of various scientific domains, including electronics, electrical engineering, information engineering, opto-mechatronics engineering, energy engineering, biomedical engineering, and materials science. In addition, the department's interest and involvement in areas like semiconductor process equipment and nanometer technology not only make it prolific in providing talents and technology to the machinery industry as well as education and research institutions, but also opens up interdisciplinary opportunities to emerging technology and industries like electronic information, energy, opto-mechatronics, and biotech.

SEYI Machinery Industry Co., Ltd. and National Central University's Global Research and Industry Alliance (NCU GLORIA) signed a membership contract to embark the journey of cutting-edge technology development with Professor Yiin-Kuen Fuh's “Heat Treatment Simulation Analysis and Deformation Suppression Technology of Gear Transmission System in Punch Equipment” and Associate Professor Yu-Ren Wu's “Optimized Design of Gear Transmission System in Servo Punch Equipment.” Furthermore, the department of mechanical engineering will customize training courses for SEYI, in pursuance of cultivating professional internal talents.

The contract signing ceremony took place at the newly established lobby of the Center for Academic and Industry Collaboration, NCU. Kwang-Hwa Lii, Executive Vice President of NCU, remarked at the opening speech that National Central University is equally devoted to education and research. According to the latest U.S. News & World Report, NCU has increased ranking to being the top 3 university in Taiwan. While this is encouraging news, the collaboration with SEYI will definitely spark off technology development, enhancement in manufacturing process, and talent cultivation in all possible ways. With brand new ambitions this year, NCU will support both the faculty and students in going above and beyond to interact and respond to industrial demands.

On the other hand, in his greeting prior to the signing ceremony, Kevin Huang, Deputy General Manager of SEYI Machinery Industry Co., Ltd., expressed his gratitude towards NCU GLORIA's dedicated efforts in facilitating the collaboration with NCU's department of mechanical engineering. This working relationship will elicit valuable resources in technology and talent for SEYI to confront many future challenges ahead.

SEYI's niche, combined with the forward-looking research and simulation technology supplied by the department of mechanical engineering of NCU, will create synergy in this collaboration. In the meantime, NCU GLORIA will carry on the spirit of continuous advancement and striving for more industry-academic collaborations.
